TAMA'S CALCULATOR GIVE-AWAY PROGRAM
The calculator give-away program for deserving Mapúa students was proposed by Cesar Suguitan (TAMA President 1999-2000) during a meeting in April 2002 that was unanimously approved by the incumbent board headed by Joe Mallari (TAMA President 2001-2003). It was agreed that the selection criteria for awarding the scientific calculators to be in the form of an essay contest in which the students will justify the reason why a calculator must be given to them. During a trip to the Philippines on the following month, Lejo Brana personally delivered the first batch of calculators to Jong Belano, the Financial Assistance Officer of the Mapúa Institute of Technology. The overwhelming response from students has become the deciding factor for the succeeding administrations of Deacon Rey Arellano (TAMA President 2004-2005) and Rudy Gonzales (TAMA President 2006-2007) to carry on this worthy cause.
