Welcome

Welcome to the official site of The Texas Association of Mapúa Alumni (TAMA). TAMA is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 by graduates of Mapúa Institute of Technology, considered as one of the best engineering and architectural schools in the Philippines. The association's primary goals are to promote the image of Mapua graduates and the Alma Mater; to uphold and sustain loyalty to the Alma Mater; to foster camaraderie among the members and their families; and to provide financial assistance to deserving Mapua students.

Message from the President

Jimmy Canlas On behalf of the officers and members of our association, I would like to welcome you to the official site of the Texas Association of Mapúa Alumni.

Our association's main goal is to provide sustained M.I.T. scholarships to deserving students who unfortunately are financially inadequate to pursue their studies. With the unwavering participation and support of other Filipino organizations, which supplements the earnest perseverance and commitment of our members, I believe without any stain of doubt, that we can achieve our projected numbers of scholarship through fundraising activities such as Christmas caroling, dance session , concert, garage sale and other activities which we may come with in our forthcoming meetings. Last year, the association had given technical calculators to a number of M.I.T. students in Manila. We will do the same this year for that matter.

Upholding our mission to promote camaraderie within our ranks and extend our support to other organization with their varied projects is like having an extended family who are at our back and call. Our previous officers have successfully implemented this mission and I see no difficulty in achieving the same objective.

I also encourage attendance to technical seminars to be given by our respective members in their line of specialization as these will continue to enhance our technical knowledge which will benefit not only our profession but our community as well.

I am so pleased that our Executive Board Members are energetic and dedicated in pursuing our goals. Running an organization with competent people like them makes the job of a president easy.

May we all continue to get involved in our community for the benefit of many.

Sincerely,
Jaime "Jimmy" Canlas, CHE '72
TAMA President 2010-2011
